A Criminal Defense (Philadelphia Legal) Kindle Edition
by William L. Myers Jr. (Author)
This debut novel is a scorcher of a legal thriller. If you only read one book this year then this is truly a must read.
In the writing of William . L. Myers Jr. you will find all you need to find. His characters are real and so are the courtroom scenes which is no great surprise when you learn the author’s day job is that of a lawyer.
Who said the law was boring or criminal trials lack intensity? There have been many writers before this author who have brought to life the stuffy courtroom procedures and atmosphere. This is the latest writer in the genre and he stands up to scrutiny as well as any of his illustrious predecessors. Mr. Myers certainly passes muster and he now has a new fan.
The book has all the right ingredients: a hero but flawed as in real life; corrupt cops; more ruthless men and women than you can shake a stick at; twists and turns that make you dizzy; a fantastic but credible plot; characters with depth; and if you are a former lawyer (like me) courtroom humour that made me laugh out loud as in some of the asides between the trial judge and counsel.
Simply the best book I have read this year. I know it is only January but it will take some beating. It would not surprise me at all if this book is adapted into a screenplay in the future. I have already pre-ordered Mr. Myers’ next novel due for release on January 23, 2018. I can’t wait to start reading it.
Thank you Mr. Myers for a great book and Kindle Unlimited for the opportunity of reading it.
